Fire destroys Millet spray park pump shack | Sherwood Park News

Oct 31, 2024

Wetaskiwin RCMP members conducting patrol in Millet came across a fire at the Millet Spray Park Oct. 20.

Millet Fire Chief Steve Moen said by the time firefighters were called the pump house at the spray park on 49 Ave. and 52 St. was fully involved but they were able to prevent it from spreading.

“It was good timing on (the RCMP’s) end (to see it when the did).”

Moen said as he was driving to the fire hall, he could see the fire was already “burning pretty good” when the call went out to the volunteer firefighters.

The pump house was completely destroyed and there was damage to the new wooden fencing that runs alongside the pump house.

Town of Millet CAO Lisa Schoening said the Town is waiting to hear back from insurance on what the damage costs are.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
